How to use this map

Every pin type is its own layer — tap a chip above the map to show or hide it. Start with Entrances and Visitor Centers to get oriented — note that the park's three entrances (Homestead, Shark Valley, and Everglades City) don't connect by road inside the park, so most visits center on just one. Turn on Camping or Lodging to see how close a place actually is to the entrance you plan to use. Trailheads and Parks & Visitor Info are off by default — flip them on once you've narrowed things down.

Everglades National Park Map FAQ

Does this map show the actual trails, or just pins?

Right now it plots trailheads, listings, and park infrastructure as pins — not the literal trail line on the ground. Real trail-line overlays are on our roadmap as we backfill trail geometry for more trails.

Why does the map show three separate entrances so far apart?

Everglades National Park has three distinct entrances that don't connect to each other by road inside the park: the main entrance near Homestead (leading to Royal Palm and Flamingo), Shark Valley off the Tamiami Trail, and the Gulf Coast entrance near Everglades City. Plan your visit around one entrance per day — driving between them takes over an hour.

Why are trailheads and parks layers off by default?

Showing every layer at once on load gets cluttered fast. Tap a layer's chip above the map to turn it on.

Can I use this to plan where to stay?

Yes — turn on Lodging and/or Camping and compare pins against the entrances and visitor centers to judge how close (or far) a property really is from the part of the park you plan to visit.
