About

Captain Craig's family has been out here for seven generations. That's not a marketing line. That's why, when you're out on the water with him, you're not just on a tour. You're getting the actual history of this place from someone who lived it.

Tours run three or four hours and cover the Ten Thousand Islands and the deeper reaches of the Everglades. Groups stay small, which means Craig (or Captain Darrell, depending on who takes you out) can tailor the trip to what you're after. Want to find dolphins? They'll chase the boat. Want gators? He knows where they are. Want to pull over on a shell-covered island and poke around? That's on the table too.

The guides know every bend, every oyster bar, every current. Captain Darrell's family has roots here just as deep. Between the two of them, you get stories and local lore that no scripted tour could replicate. Reviews consistently describe it as one of the best experiences of the whole trip.

Chokoloskee sits at the southwestern edge of Everglades National Park, right where the Gulf meets the Ten Thousand Islands. It's about 90 miles from Miami and a world away from everything else. If you're making the drive out to the Gulf Coast side of the Everglades, this is the boat tour to book.

We had a fantastic trip with Captain Craig on 3/20/26. We opted for the 4 hour tour which was great. Craig got us everywhere we wanted to go and got us to everywhere we didn't know about, but he thought was worthwhile, and it was. He is an excellent guide. His personality, care, interest and passion for his clients and for the 10,000 Islands are beyond compare. He grew up here and knows and loves these islands. He shares his passion beautifully. He can keep a story going and bring in a new one at any moment. He made a point of recognizing our interests and getting us to unique birds, nesting bald eagles, great shelling beaches, rare shells, old island history, 4 geocaches that we wanted to get to, and found the dolphins. The dolphins were impressive and played with us for a nice long while. His presentation of the history was exceptional. His family lived it. In fact, his family lived (mid 1800's- mid1900's) on Fakahatchee Island (now uninhabited and in a natural state). Craig took us to Fakahatchee Island........... it exudes history and we got to see it all. In fact we got the over the top and rare and special tour. Loved it. Craig was always being respectful of the environment and its inhabitants. He did an amazing job. Craig is a wonderful steward and historian of these 10,000 Islands and I do hope that it is he and his business continue to provide adventures to all those who come to the area to visit and discover these beautiful islands. The combination of the beauty, the wildlife, the history, the caches and most of all our excellent guide would convince me to return. If I were ever to return, Craig, of Captain Craigs Adventures would be the first one I would call. Thanks Craig for a great day.........we loved it all. We highly recommend Captain Craig of Captain Craigs Adventures. Thanks. Barb and Bill

There's a reason that there are around 130 reviews and they're all 5 stars! Captain Darrell was absolutely phenomenal and gave us a tour we will never forget! He and his family have been in the area for generations and it shows- he knew every bend, oyster bar, and island, and had deep lore about all of them. We saw dolphins close to the boat, many species of birds, and collected shells on a pristine island outside of the National Park. We did the three hour tour and it felt like it flew past, it was the absolute highlight of our trip to the Everglades and I hope to do it again! If you're on the fence just do it- I honestly can't think of a single criticism. The 10,000 islands area itself is also spectacular and unique, even as a native of Tampa I had never seen anything quite like it. Just breathtakingly beautiful!

Awesome day with Captain Craig. We did the three hour tour. Captain Craig’s knowledge and stories about the area are very entertaining. We got shells on one stop, toured his family’s island, and saw several dolphin up close and personal. I highly recommend Captain Craig.

Trust me. Pick this one. We had so much fun on this tour. First of all the groups are small so you get a personalized tour. Plus, Captain Craig knows the area, so whatever experience you are looking for, he can find it. We took so many beautiful pictures and videos. We learned some history of the islands and the people, and even stopped and chatted with some local families. We found so many unique animals (especially birds). We even had some dolphins swimming with the boat (best video of the day). We collected shells on a beach, watched the sunset. And so much more. Everyone left happy. This is definitely worth every penny.
