About

Shiver's BBQ has been a Homestead fixture for over 70 years, and the smell of smoked meat hits you before you even open the door. This is a family-owned place that takes its BBQ seriously: ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and a lineup of sides that people drive out of their way for.

The sweet potato soufflé is the thing people keep coming back for. The hash brown casserole and fried corn aren't far behind. Brisket burnt ends are the move if you want something that'll genuinely stick in your memory. The portions are generous and the menu covers all the classics without trying to be anything it's not.

Inside, you'll find community-style picnic table seating that gives the place a casual, come-as-you-are feel. It's a good spot for families and groups who want a real meal rather than a quick bite. Beer and wine are available if you want something to wash down the ribs.

Homestead sits right at the main entrance to Everglades National Park, and Shiver's makes a great stop before or after a day in the park. After a long hike through the sawgrass, a plate of fall-off-the-bone ribs and a side of collard greens hits exactly right. Dine-in and takeout both available.

10/5 stars if I could! If you’re anywhere near Homestead, Shiver’s BBQ is absolutely worth the stop. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the smell of smoked meat, and you know you’re in for something special. It’s a quaint little place with community-style picnic table seating indoors, and you can tell it gets busy during peak hours. The staff treated us like family from the moment we walked in and made us feel right at home. I ordered the baby back ribs and brisket, and both were outstanding. The collard greens were hands down the best I’ve ever had, and the sweet potato soufflé was just as memorable. Even the Texas toast was incredible—I don’t usually talk about bread, but this stuff was fire! The drinks were served in large cups, and the sweet tea was absolutely perfect. Dinner for two came to about $78, which might seem a little high at first, but quality barbecue isn’t cheap, and every dollar was worth it. The portions were generous, everything was fresh, and this was easily one of the best barbecue meals I’ve had. We were so full we almost skipped dessert, but I’m glad we didn’t. The homemade Key lime pie was the best we had during our entire trip to the Keys. It was smooth, creamy, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of Key lime flavor, and unlike some of the others we tried, it wasn’t gritty at all. It was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in South Florida.

Absolutely the best BBQ I’ve ever had! Every single thing we ordered was incredible. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the brisket was juicy and packed with flavor, the sweet potato soufflé was perfectly sweet and creamy, the coleslaw was fresh, and the fried corn was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection! A special shout-out to our waitress, Patrice, who made our experience even better. She was so friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Outstanding food and outstanding service—I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable BBQ experience!

Food was good but expensive. Service was a mixture of great and ok some were helpful and nice while others were standoffish. Really cool old school building that I believe has been there 70+ years. The group seating was annoying. Biggest complaint was the roaches crawling accross the table where we sat.

I've been all over the country for bbq. Hands down this was the BEST BBQ place I've ever eaten at. The Brisket Burnt Ends are beyond words delicious. I had it with the Sweet Potato Souffle and Hash brown casserole. Both were epic. The service was amazing and it was just a fun place to eat. I never thought I would find better BBQ than in Texas or Kansas City..They can't hold a candle to this place. Try their homemade BBQ sauce too. I will dream of this place back in California.

Food was good. The corn pudding and collard greens were excellent. The baby backs and burnt ends were just okay. The smokiness was not as great as I'm used to. It's almost like they were cooked in the oven and then put on grill for 5 minutes afterwards to add smokey flavor. The flavor wasn't throughout the meat. The dessert, banana pudding, was outstanding. The service was excellent. I'll give it another try. The next time I'll get the ribs without sauce to see if I can find the smoke line.
