The Shark Valley Tram Tour is a guided, narrated two-hour ride along the 15-mile loop road into Shark River Slough — the "river of grass" at the heart of the Everglades. Shark Valley sits about 30 miles west of Miami off the Tamiami Trail (US-41), making it the most Miami-accessible way to experience the park's interior without hiking or biking the full loop yourself.
Halfway around the loop, the tram stops at a 70-foot observation tower with a panoramic view over the sawgrass marsh. Reservations are strongly recommended from November through April, when the park is busiest; book through sharkvalleytramtours.com or by calling (305) 221-8455.
Shark Valley is open 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. mid-December through mid-April, and 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. the rest of the year.
