Homestead Bayfront Park sits right on Biscayne Bay, about 10 minutes from the entrance to Biscayne National Park and a short drive from the northern tip of the Florida Keys. It's a legit full-day spot: sandy beach, a natural atoll lagoon with calm swimming water, boat ramps, fishing areas, a volleyball court, and a playground. There's even an on-site restaurant and tiki bar, so you're not rationing granola bars by 2pm.

The lagoon is the real draw. It's sheltered and calm, which makes it good for families with younger kids who aren't ready for open-water surf. Plenty of room to spread out, and if you get there early enough, you can grab one of the shaded picnic pads. The parking lot is large, which helps on busy weekends.

Boaters use the ramp to access the bay and Biscayne National Park's waters. (Take it slow on the ramp itself, especially when wet.) Anglers set up along the shoreline and seem to do well here.

If you're building a South Florida itinerary around Everglades National Park, this park makes a natural add-on day. The park entrance is less than 20 minutes away, and the two together cover a lot of ground: river of grass in the morning, beach and bay in the afternoon. Dogs are welcome, which is a bonus if you're traveling with one.

We recently visited Homestead Bayfront Park on out latest visit to Florida. We had plans of going beach hopping along the coast after leaving the Florida Keys. This happened to be one of the closest beaches to access from the island's so we came here first. It was a complete disappointment. There is huge parking lot yet hardly anywhere to park. We visited on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe that's the popular day. Finally, once we did get to park and could walk down to the beach, there was loud music blaring from the bar/ resturant on site. So loud you couldn't talk to the person beside you. When we got to the swimming area, that's when we learned it ia only a man made Lake and it over looks the ocean. We should have definitely did more research before driving 25 minutes off of the highway to this location. Cl Chancing Miami traffic and just going to Maimi South Beach would have been a much better choice than here. We did not stay we turned around and left. If you're looking for a swimming hole, that's good for kids. This would be great. However, we wanted to be in the ocean so this was a no for us.

Located near Biscayne National Park, this park offers plenty of recreational opportunities, including a beautiful lagoon with an accessible beach. Visitors were out fishing, picnicking, and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. There’s also an on-site restaurant and a tiki bar, and parking is plentiful.

First time visiting this park, but I will definitely be back. Beautiful area. Plenty of space to set up chairs and towels, or if you’re lucky snag one of the shaded pads or picnic tables. Large parking lot. Really calm environment.
