About

Captain Morgan's Seafood Grill sits right in the middle of Everglades City, a short drive from the Gulf Coast entrance to Everglades National Park. It's a family-owned spot, and you can feel that from the moment you walk in. The place is bright, clean, and relaxed, with a menu that pulls from Gulf seafood traditions and Cuban flavors in equal measure.

The blackened grouper is the dish people keep coming back for. Light, flaky, and served with enough sauce that you'll want extra rice. The Cuban burger has its own following too, which says something about the range of this kitchen. Start with a Cuban coffee before you order anything else. It's the real deal, strong and rich, the kind that makes you wonder why you ever settled for anything else.

Outdoor seating is available, which is the right call on a good day in Everglades City. The staff is attentive and genuinely happy to walk you through the menu. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all on the table, along with beer, wine, and brunch options. Families and larger groups do well here.

People fly in just to eat here. That's not a figure of speech. The small airstrip nearby makes Captain Morgan's a legitimate fly-in destination for pilots exploring South Florida. If you're driving in from Miami or Naples for a day in the Everglades, this is a solid reason to build in extra time before or after the park.

What a gem in Everglades City! Stopped in at Captain Morgan’s and everything was fantastic from start to finish. The Cuban coffee was rich, strong, and absolutely perfect — the real deal. My teen son got the Cuban burger — juicy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best burgers we’ve had anywhere. I went with the grouper sandwich and it did not disappoint: fresh, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. We almost skipped dessert but I’m so glad we didn’t, because the tres leches cake was out of this world — moist, sweet, and the perfect ending to a great meal. The friendly family staff made us feel right at home, like we were regulars from the moment we walked in. We’ll absolutely be back next time we’re in the Everglades!

This is a bright and cheerful restaurant in the middle of lovely Everglades City, FL. Very clean and modern with delicious food! The blackened grouper with shrimp was amazing! Light, juicy and flaky. I ordered extra rice to soak up all the juice. The key lime pie finished it all off. I highly recommend this establishment.

We had the BEST experience. The restaurant is family owned and a family business. Every single staff member was attentive to us and so kind. We learned so much about the menu and the love put into each dish. Quality ingredients were evident and the taste of everything was the best we’ve experienced of any place we’ve stopped on our 2-week trip. Highly recommend! The whole family even joined our boys for a picture at the end of our meal.

**Edit to reply to owner have * next to them. We were really looking forward to trying Captain Morgans after reading the reviews. We walked away wondering if we were at the same restraunt we see in the reviews. Server was overbearing, seated our party of 8 at a table for 6 when there was a table for 8 open as there was hardly anyone at the restaurant (*we were not seated at 2 tables*). Server mentioned chicken strips were a great option for kids and then took it upon herself to order them for us without our approval (*we weren'teven sitting down yet*) (*neither mom or anyone else approved the chicken strip order you think was approved, take a moment to confirm before placing the order*) and then charged us for them. The food left us disappointed, burger was chewy without flavor. Grouper sandwich was plain, had little flavor and the chicken strips that she claimed were made in house looked and tasted just like the ones the food companies delivers to all the other restaurants. The shrimp enchilada plate was mediocre and the best thing we had. (*we did not complain, infact it wasn't worth the hassle as throughout our meal you were overbearing and wouldn't listen to our requests. It's actually hilarious that you claim you were short staffed that night, there were 2 servers for 3 tables*) FYI there are no free refills on sweet tea or any other fountain drinks except tap water!!! Then to top it off there is a mandatory 20% tip which is not disclosed before ordering and when checking you out. (*honestly we didn't see it, maybe we're blind but when your with kids sometimes things are missed. Still it would be acting in good faith to your customer to mention it at the beginning, same goes for sweet tea refills (who doesn't have sweet tea refills?! All other restaurants in town do!). Be honest with your customers upfront, don't nickel and dime them and it will go a long way*)

My friend and I flew our planes into Everglades City just to check out Captain Morgan's Seafood Grill, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. What really stood out was how welcoming everyone was, they truly made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. The service was excellent, and the whole experience made for an awesome fly-in lunch destination. We’ll definitely be back again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Everglades City by car, boat, or airplane!
