About

Gator Hole Bar is the kind of place Everglades City was made for. It's a casual, open-air watering hole where you can grab a cold beer, catch some live music, and let the laid-back Gulf Coast vibe do its thing. The outdoor seating is the main draw. Sit outside, order a cocktail, and you'll understand why people stop here after a day on the water.

The bar runs a full drink menu: beer, wine, and cocktails. They serve food too, with Florida-style fare that fits the setting. Dine-in, takeout, and reservations are all options, which makes it easy to work into your Everglades City evening without much planning.

Live music is a regular feature, typically on weekend nights. (Worth a quick call ahead if you're specifically coming for the entertainment, just to confirm the schedule.) The crowd tends to be a mix of locals and visitors, and the staff keeps things friendly and low-key.

Gator Hole is one of the few spots in Everglades City that stays open during the quieter summer months, which matters if you're visiting the Gulf Coast entrance to Everglades National Park off-season. It's a reliable place to land after a day of kayaking the Ten Thousand Islands or exploring the backcountry. Families and groups are both welcome, and the outdoor setup gives everyone room to spread out.

This is only one of a few places open during the “off season” summer. We took a one night trip and this was our first choice for dinner. We went in, it wasn’t busy at all. Only a handful of patrons. We sat at the bar and the bartender was quick with menus and let us know what foods they were out of and what time the kitchen closed. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. The prices were quite high and this trip was a budget trip so we decided to finish our drinks and move on. Meals were over $20/portions drinks weren’t bad. The bartender did talk to us about the future activities they planned for the restaurant.

Great outdoor atmosphere. The food looked good but we just stopped by for drinks. Drink were a little pricey but good. They also had live music at the bar.

Nice little out door hang out also had seating in the restaurant area. Was looking for live entertainment on a Friday night but bartender/waitress said the entertainment was on Saturday night. Giving the service a four star rating only because it took a little bit for our drink orders to be taken. Giving the food a four star rating because it was a little pricey for the amount you got.

March 2026 Monday afternoon they were closed. Walked next door to Diving Pelican and it seems these 2 establishments have the same owner. Which we talked to and with a friendly smile explained as best he could their operations.

Beers at this place are way expensive. A plastic cup of an average Florida IPA was 8 bucks; 7 for a bottle of another that was below average. That is plus tax. An openly and blatantly racist man was walking up and down the bar within clear earshot of the employees. It almost seemed like he was familiar to the business. The food next door was also quite expensive. Didnt buy any. Definitely a tourist trap. Bartenders were very nice.
