About

Everglades Airpark (X01) is a public general aviation airport sitting right at the edge of Everglades City, one of the most scenic places you can put a plane down in Florida. Pilots flying between the mainland and the Keys use it as a regular stop. But it's also just a genuinely cool place to visit, even if you're not flying in.

The airport has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Weekend staff are known for being friendly and genuinely helpful, and there's something quietly special about watching small planes parked alongside tents where pilots camp overnight. A US Army plane on the grounds gives you a reason to walk around and take a few photos.

Golf cart rentals are available if you want to explore without walking far. And you won't have to go far: it's about a 10-minute walk to seafood restaurants, fishing charters targeting snook, tarpon, and speck trout, and a free town museum worth a stop.

The approach into Everglades City is the kind of scenery that reminds you why people fly in the first place. Water, mangroves, and open sky in every direction. For pilots, it ranks right up with Cedar Key as one of Florida's best fly-in destinations. For everyone else, it's a small-town airfield with easy access to the Ten Thousand Islands and the Gulf Coast entrance to Everglades National Park.

I stopped by there to take a few photographs they have the US army plane there which was wonderful to see

We have been to X01 twice recently and each time was lovely. The first time was just a short stop. Mary, who manages the airport on the weekends could not be any more friendly and helpful. We saw people camping alongside their planes and decided that we had to try that. We returned several weeks later and set up the tent on the grass right behind our plane. Mary insisted on helping and even went and found us a few cement blocks to help secure the tent. When set-up was complete we rented 2 of the several bikes and biked to Triad Seafood Market & Cafe in downtown Everglades City. Later we walked to the approach end of runway 15 and experienced a beautiful sunset on the water. What a neat experience and absolutely wonderful hospitality. Self fuel 100LL too at reasonable prices!

A great Florida fly in destination. Right up there with Cedar Key. Also, an important airport for stops when on flights to and from the Florida keys. The county has recently looked into feasibility of closing the airport and selling it to Developers. They claim it wasn't being used much but that was because the hangers were damaged and they quit carrying fuel. I've been told it now carries Avgas once again and encourage aviators to visit, sign petition and maybe buy a little fuel.

This is a great little airport in an amazing location. It's a 10 minute walk on quiet sidewalks to good seafood restaurants, a really cute and free town museum, and fishing charters to put you on world-class Snook, Tarpon and Speck Trout. There are rental golf carts at the airport if you aren't up for walking. The dark side is that Hurricane Irma damaged the hangars and fuel farm in 2017, and Collier County has used that as an excuse to try to sell the airport to condo developers instead of making repairs. Don't let that happen, vote with your airplane and feet! Fly to X01, have a fun day trip, and sign the petition to save this wonderful airport while you are there!
