Hands down one of the best BBQs spots I’ve ever been to, we had the mini platter and it was incredible! We also tried the Fried Yuca, Mac n’ Cheese, then Piña Colada Cheesecake. Every single thing was delicious, the brisket was soft and juicy, the shredded pork & bacon was flavor-full and plentiful, ribs were juicy, fall off the bone with a nice BBQed crust on the outside, then that BBQ chicken. Yuca was great and the Macn’ Cheese was so creamy and good, banana corn bread wasn’t my favorite but honestly still good. Piña Colada Cheesecake was soft, delicious and just the right sweetness. The service was great, very sweet, interactive and attentive to us (I loved that she asked us if we had any allergies, much appreciated). Overall, this place is wonderful and deserves the praise, highly recommend eating here.
I decided to try JJ’s Cuisine after seeing their Instagram posts and a high rating, so I went in with good expectations. The lobby looked nice and welcoming, but the receptionist’s attire felt unprofessional and out of place—it might help to have a clearer dress code for
Our waitress, Heidi, was very kind and attentive, which I appreciated. We were served peanuts and even got to try their banana cornbread, which ended up being the highlight of the visit—really delicious.
For our meal, we ordered a full rack of ribs with sweet potato waffle fries, the Wrangler burger, and mac & cheese. Unfortunately, the food didn’t meet expectations. The mac & cheese lacked flavor, and the barbecue sauce on the ribs had an unusual taste that didn’t work for us.
Overall, while the service was pleasant and the cornbread stood out, the main dishes were disappointing. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t return anytime soon.
We really wanted to champion JJ’s Cuisine as a new local business in Homestead. The atmosphere is excellent—they’ve done a great job with the outdoor patio—and the service was top-tier. Our server was friendly, gave us a tour, and got us excited for their karaoke and live music nights. We will definitely be back for the entertainment and drinks.
However, as a BBQ enthusiast, the "Smokehouse" concept was a major letdown, highlighted by a couple of big red flags.
Despite the website promising a "signature smokehouse aroma," there wasn't a hint of wood smoke or burning coals on the entire property. As any BBQ lover knows, you should be able to smell a real pit from a block away.
While waiting for our food, we browsed through their Instagram and noticed their social media and website use mostly AI-generated and stock images. As you can see from my comparison photos, these are incredibly misleading. There is a massive gap between the stylized digital images they show and the actual quality of the food that I was served today.
The brisket was gray, dry, and had the texture of cafeteria food or mall food court. It looked nothing like the bark-heavy, juicy meat shown on their website and social media. The ribs were marginally better only because they were smothered in sauce to hide how dry they were.
The Snapper filet was described as a "12oz fillet lightly dusted in seasoned flour cut into pieces", but it looks and tasted more like frozen breaded fish strips dropped in a deep fryer. The burger was equally underwhelming as it was overcooked and bland.
The grilled veggies, tostones, fried yuca, and cornbread were pretty good.
Verdict: JJ’s has the potential for a great hangout spot in Homestead as they have the "vibe" down perfectly, but the kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. If you’re looking for authentic, wood-smoked BBQ, this isn't the spot.
A must for anyone local or passing through Homestead/Everglades area. A local restaurant that provides exceptional service and incredibly delicious food. We ordered the Mini Platter with 3 sides and a Brie Burger. The portions are generous, the meat falls off the bone, well seasoned. What more can you ask for? 11/10 will be stopping by again when in town for work.
Heidy was our server and provided excellent service! She makes a mean mojito too!
We have been seeing this place for a while and have been wanting to come by, today was the day! Definitely won’t be the last. The food was amazing, as well as the service. We came in on a Tuesday and it was empty when we came in. It was literally just us but slowly a couple more people trickled in. Don’t let that fool you I promise you the food was still fresh and delicious. It seems like the weekend is their busiest times because they offer karaoke and music and things like that. During the week you can a more calm environment. We got a platter the one priced at $85 meant to be shared. We were 4 and we had lots to take home. The banana corn bread is a nice surprise, a creative twist on a classic. I would say the bbq has a Caribbean flair, maybe even Cuban. Being Cuban myself I season my ribs the same. It was like a mojo bbq. Amazing flavor. The brisket was super tender, the ribs as well. The Mac and cheese was 🔥 and the veggies were amazing as well. Also their sweet tea was chefs kiss. All around a delicious dinner. We will be back for sure. A special thank you to our super kind waitress Thalia. She was a doll!
