Long Pine Key is home to more than 22 miles of connecting trails through the park's pine rockland habitat, on the eastern side of Everglades National Park near Homestead. The main route runs about 7 miles from the Long Pine Key Campground west to Pine Glades Lake along the main park road, with additional side trails and old fire roads branching off it.
This is the park's best spot for a longer hike or a mountain bike ride away from the boardwalk crowds. The terrain is flat, dry, and shaded compared to the marsh trails, running through slash pine forest and past small ponds. Bring water — there's little shade relief and no facilities once you're on the trail system itself.
An Everglades National Park entrance pass is required to access Long Pine Key.
The Long Pine Key trail system totals over 22 miles of connected trails. The main route from the campground to Pine Glades Lake is about 7 miles one way.
