Castellow Hammock Preserve & Nature Center is a nice spot for an easy walk and a glimpse of Miami’s tropical forest ecosystem. If you’re driving from the other side of town, I wouldn’t make the trip just for this preserve. It’s pleasant and worth visiting, but it’s not a standout destination on its own. It works much better when combined with other nearby attractions, especially Patch of Heaven, which is right next door. If you live in the area, however, it’s definitely worth checking out. The trail starts right behind the visitor center and is easy to follow. Along the way, you’ll find interesting tree and root formations, plenty of shade, and a peaceful atmosphere. The landscape reminded me of my childhood in Cuba, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, a nice place to stretch your legs, enjoy some nature, and see a different side of Miami. Recommended if you’re already exploring the Redland area.
