Monkey Jungle flips the zoo concept on its head. You walk through netted pathways while the monkeys climb freely overhead. It's one of those setups that sounds gimmicky until you're actually standing there with a Java macaque swinging inches above your head, and then it just feels right.

The park runs scheduled shows throughout the day, which is worth knowing before you go. Plan your arrival around the 10am show if you can. The monkey swimming pool demonstration is a crowd favorite, and the guides know their stuff. You'll also get time with tortoises, exotic birds, and a fossil display that's been drawing curiosity since the park opened decades ago. Feeding the animals is a highlight for most visitors, kids especially.

This is a habitat first, a tourist attraction second. The grounds are lush and open-air, more rainforest than concrete, and the animals clearly have room to move. Budget about two hours and you'll hit most of what's here comfortably.

Monkey Jungle sits about 25 miles north of the Everglades main entrance, making it a natural add-on for anyone building a South Florida itinerary around the park. It's an easy half-day stop on the way down to Homestead or a solid standalone afternoon if you're based in Miami. Either way, it's the kind of place that sticks with you longer than you'd expect.

We had a nice experience visiting Monkey Jungle. The park offers scheduled shows throughout the day at the different exhibits, which makes it easy to plan your visit and see the animals in action. Our favorite part was the first show by the monkey swimming pool. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information about the monkeys and their behaviors. It was both entertaining and educational. There are several exhibits to explore, a gift shop, and opportunities to purchase food to feed the monkeys for just $1 per box. General admission was reasonably priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 3–9. For those looking for a more interactive experience, there is a guided tour that allows guests to enter the open monkey area and help feed the monkeys. However, the cost is $150 per person, which may not fit every budget. Overall, Monkey Jungle is a unique attraction with informative shows, friendly staff, and plenty of opportunities to learn about and observe monkeys up close. It’s a fun family outing and worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Great experience! I liked that they had a schedule with different interactive programs throughout the day. We stayed about 2 hours and got to learn about the monkeys as well as the tortoises and were able to feed them also. I wish that the experience to see the monkeys up close and personal wasn't so expensive but seeing them through the net was also very fun.

Monkey Jungle is such an incredible experience in South Florida. A must visit if you're visiting Miami or simply a local in South Florida. So many different types of monkeys, parrots, and other reptilian animals. The monkeys are not in cages - they climb overhead while you are in a netted walkway. But the thing that really makes this nature center stand out are their guides! Will was the staff member giving demos today of monkeys and the reptiles. He was a remarkable storyteller. We learned so much, laughed a ton, and were engrossed in his ability to both educate and entertain. Standard entrance begins at $20/adult (I believe less for children). Truly a must visit. Go with your whole family, friends, and colleagues. Ask your office to sponsor an outing here. Have the time of your life and support a space doing incredible natural preservation work in South Florida. You won't regret it for a second.

Really enjoyed the 10am show! Park is super nice for the animals and just fine for humans. Remember it's more of a habitat than a zoo and adjust your expectations. Price point is great - signs could be easier to read on some exhibits (overgrown brush) and a few animals didn't seem to be around but overall a great experience would recommend and would come again!
