About

If you've just come from an alligator farm and you're thinking "okay, but what does it taste like?", this is your answer. Everglades Gator Grill is a casual outdoor spot in Homestead that serves alligator sandwiches, frog legs, conch fritters, and a full menu of burgers, tacos, seafood, and fried chicken. It's the kind of place that fits perfectly into an Everglades day trip, right when you want something memorable to eat before heading home.

Everything is counter-service. You order inside, then take your food out to the picnic area. (Worth knowing before you stand around outside wondering what to do.) The outdoor seating is relaxed and low-key, the staff is genuinely friendly, and the food comes out fast most days.

The gator is the draw, obviously. It eats somewhere between chewy chicken and a mild white fish, and most people find it more approachable than they expected. The frog legs and conch fritters are solid picks too. If you're not feeling adventurous, the shrimp po'boy has its fans.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all on the table, and they do takeout if you'd rather eat on the road. Families do well here. Kids who just saw a live gator at a farm tend to think ordering one off a menu is either hilarious or deeply wrong, and either way it makes for a good story. That's kind of the whole point.

Only outdoor seating, must go inside to order. We had to figure that out as there is no signage that states otherwise. The good came out relatively quick. Kinda pricey for what it is. The conch fritters were good but the gator was pretty bland.

Never tried gator before so this was a new experience. It was much better than I expected tasting like rougher chicken breast but not bad at all. The frog legs were a little slimy for my taste compared to ones I’ve had before. Service was quick.

Imagine to stop on the gas station somewhere on the middle of nowhere and by some crazy miracle they serve alligators meat there - this is how it feels. No hard feelings please It’s a fast food alligators meat stop, with general fast foods variety and frog legs, maybe I would return to try them. But to try alligators meat I would choose another place next time. Gato meat is good, it’s farm raised and on the google map you can see an alligator farm like 4 minutes away, I can assume that this is a place from where they got gato meat from. Beef sandwich was good also. For gato serving place it is lacking of authenticity. The seats are more like picnic wooden benches. On one side is a traffic road, on other private property plantations. All together it is simple, very affordable stop to eat gato or anything else super fast.

So gator isn't very good, I learned. I should have had the shrimp po boy. People are super friendly, menu is great, prices are competitive, and the picnic area is nice.

A great spot for those wanting to try alligator meat after visiting an alligator farm. Unfortunately, we weren't too lucky that day, as there were a lot of people and a long line. We waited about 35 minutes after ordering, but it was definitely worth it to mark off trying alligator after visiting the farm. The main seating area is under a stylishly designed canopy, so it's better to sit in the shade; otherwise, it gets too hot in the sun. Overall, not bad!
