About

Paddling through a mangrove tunnel is one of those experiences that's hard to explain until you're actually in one. The canopy closes in around you, the water goes quiet, and suddenly you're somewhere that feels completely removed from the rest of the world. Everglades Adventures runs guided kayak and canoe tours through exactly that kind of terrain, right from Everglades City on the Gulf Coast side of the park.

Groups are small, typically six people or fewer, which makes a real difference out here. Your guide isn't just steering you down a river. They're pointing out the osprey nest overhead, spotting the alligator you would've paddled right past, and explaining why the mangroves look the way they do. Guides like Sean and Nick come up in the reviews constantly, and for good reason. They know this water.

The tours run about two hours and move at a comfortable pace. You don't need to be an experienced paddler. The 8am departure is a solid choice if you want calmer conditions and cooler temps before the Florida sun gets serious.

Everglades City sits on the northwest edge of Everglades National Park, about 35 miles south of Naples and 80 miles west of the main park entrance near Homestead. It's a different side of the Everglades entirely: saltwater, mangroves, and the sprawling Ten Thousand Islands. If you're making the trip out here, this tour is a genuinely good reason to do it.

One of the best experiences of my life! I was visiting Florida for the first time and did a tour here with Sean last week. It ended up being even more amazing than I expected. Our group was small, just 6 people total (counting myself and the guide). I joined the 8am tour, which was perfect. We saw several alligators and a lot of other wildlife. I’ll be honest, I admitted right at the start that I was nervous, but Sean made everyone feel comfortable very quickly. By the middle of the tour I was completely relaxed and just enjoying the experience. Sean is incredibly knowledgeable about the Everglades and also very kind and patient. You can tell he genuinely cares about the environment and making sure everyone has a great experience. I cannot recommend this tour enough. It was all I talked about for the rest of my vacation and probably will be for month!!

We had a great time on this trip. Shaun was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna on the river, and was enthusiastic about sharing it with us. He took a small, enclosed river and opened our eyes to all the wonderful, unique things found on it. Had we done this river ourselves, we never would have fully realized all the treasures the river held. Shaun was personable and safety conscious. We saw several gators. Shaun put himself between us and the gators when we were in close proximity and a little nervous about passing.

We loved our kayak tour with Everglades Adventures. We were greeted immediately by our guide and left for the tour on time. He provided a plethora of knowledge of both the flora and fauna we were experiencing. It was at a very comfortable pace for all to enjoy. If you like nature, this is the trip for you!

Although the river was low, Nick sure did show us a great time! He was very good at pointing out the animals and plants. We had a visit from turtles, alligators and the osprey nest was busy. A nice relaxing, two hour kayaking trip!

Loved the kayak tour. Sean was our guide, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. We got to see a couple of gators, a snake, and beautiful birds. Going through the mangrove was magical.
