About

TUGA brings real Portuguese cooking to Homestead, and it's the kind of place that makes you wonder why you didn't find it sooner. The menu runs from tender octopus to filet mignon, with the kind of execution that makes both feel like the right order. Pair either with a bottle of Portuguese wine and you're having a proper evening.

The setting is a big part of it. Dine al fresco on the terrace, or let the kids run around in the backyard while you finish your meal in peace. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable without trying too hard. The staff knows the menu well and will walk you through it if you need a nudge.

This is a good spot for anniversaries, group dinners, or just a slow weeknight when you want something better than the usual Homestead options. Reservations are available, and worth making on weekends. They also do takeout and delivery if you're heading back to a rental after a long day in Everglades National Park.

Lunch, dinner, beer, wine, and cocktails are all on the table. Prices are fair for what you're getting, especially compared to what you'd pay for the same quality in Miami. Outdoor seating, family-friendly, and genuinely worth the stop.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing experience at TUGA! We celebrated our 12th anniversary there, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect place for such a special occasion. Robert ordered the filet mignon, and it was cooked to perfection. I had the octopus, and it was absolutely exquisite—tender, flavorful, and one of the best I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding, and the owner, João, made us feel so welcome. He even surprised us with a complimentary bottle of the house wine, which was excellent! That thoughtful gesture made our celebration even more memorable. If you’re looking for authentic Portuguese food, outstanding service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, TUGA is the place to go. Highly recommended—we’ll definitely be back!

This Portuguese Restaurant is a hidden gem ! The service was wonderful and the food tasty & was very well prepared, and presentation was very good ! Our server Wanda was very helpful & courteous in explaining what was on the menu … We will definitely return to this restaurant to explore more the menu …

Tuga, what a great place. Dine al fresco at the terrace watching a sunset while your kids play in the backyard or dine in the main room; clean, spotless warm and comfortable atmosphere. I've been in several Portuguese restaurants in Miami but Tuga is trully a genuine gem. Had a bottle of Moralhas vinho verde, refreshing, citrusy, and crisp. Tried the Tuga sample for appetizer: bacalhau fritters sublime creamy and perfectly fried. Shrimp rissois flavorful, caco bread, olives, and cheese with membrillo were a perfect tabla. Had the picanha skewer, with the cornmeal fritters that were an absolute hit. Do not miss the grilled octopus (polvo a lagareiro) the best in town. Tender and moist inside with a crispy grilled char outside. Dessert delicia de deolinda was outstanding. Took a couple pasteis de nata to go. Amicable service and nice ambience. This is a highly recommended place while in Krome Av. Homestead Florida; a must visit.
