Royal Palm Grill has been a Homestead institution long enough that some regulars have been eating here for 30 years. The owner is behind the stove. That's not a detail, that's the whole story.

Pull up a chrome stool at the counter or grab one of the wooden-table booths. The retro diner setup is the real thing, not a theme. Regulars swear by the catfish, the biscuits and gravy, and the open-faced roast beef on cornbread (yes, cornbread, and yes, it's the move). The grits come out hot and perfectly cooked, which sounds basic until you've had bad grits at a place that didn't care.

Breakfast and lunch are the main events here. The staff is the kind you actually remember, quick, warm, and a little bit their own thing. Seating fills up fast with locals, so arriving early on weekends is smart.

Homestead sits right at the entrance to Everglades National Park, and Royal Palm Grill is exactly the kind of place you want to fuel up before a long day on the trails or the water. It's also exactly the kind of place you want to decompress at after. Classic American diner food, fair prices, and a room full of people who clearly know something you're just figuring out.

Seems like it's a favorite for locals. Good food and service, seated quickly. We enjoyed our breakfast/lunch.

I have been eating here for 30 years. Always excellent food & service. Owner is the one cooking. Great catfish, grits, biscuits & gravy, open-faced roast beef (I get it on cornbread)! Historic location.

Wow!! This place is everything I hoped for! The food was absolutely amazing - hands down the best brunch I've had in years. The wait staff is very fun and attentive and also can't be beat. I went when the place was in the midst of being upgraded and it is limiting seating so the atmosphere is very "casual" right now. The charm is amazing though! It was once a drug store and they have many original pieces still there from the 80s and 90s.

Royal Palm Grill is a most excellent old time, authentic diner! From the chrome stools at the counter, to the booze with the wooden tables to the eclectic staff with the greatest hospitality service… Super excellent I had an omelette and some grits with coffee… All hot and perfectly cooked. The grits were super hot and super smooth and just delicious. The coffee kept coming and Brandi made me feel like a regular… And this place is built on regulars! They have some specials… But the menu choices are good. If you like old Timey authentic, this is a place for you.
