About

Captain Jack's runs airboat tours out of Everglades City, right on the Gulf Coast side of the park where the Ten Thousand Islands begin. This is the wilder, quieter side of the Everglades, and the mangrove maze out here is something else entirely. You're zipping through tight channels with gators sunning on the banks and, if you're lucky, dolphins showing up uninvited.

The combo package is the move. You get the airboat ride through the mangroves, then head to the alligator show and animal sanctuary nearby. No extra fees to hold a gator at the sanctuary, which is the kind of thing that makes or breaks a trip for kids (and plenty of adults). The boats run small, around six people, so you're not crammed onto a party barge with strangers.

The guides are a big part of why people come back. They know the water, they know the wildlife, and more than a few of them are genuinely funny. Headsets are provided because airboats are loud. That's just the deal. Wear sunscreen, bring water, and don't stress about the bugs — most visitors say they're not bad.

Everglades City sits about 35 miles south of Naples and roughly 75 miles west of the main Everglades National Park entrance near Homestead. If you're road-tripping across South Florida, this is a natural stop between the two coasts. It's a full afternoon well spent.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience! We booked the total Everglades combo. Our favorite activity was the mangrove airboat tour, where we had a blast zipping through the Mangroves, and were able to see multiple gators! We also were quite excited to hold a young gator at the animal sanctuary. We can't say enough about how awesome this day was despite the high heat in June. Definitely don't forget to bring bug spray! Lunch recommendation after the tours would be Camellia Street Grill. All in all an amazing day!

Had an awesome time with Captain Jack's Airboat Tours! We had an absolute blast on the airboat ride — the captain was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience a lot of fun. Getting to encounter an alligator up close was definitely the highlight of the tour. Such a cool experience and something I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Florida!

This was SOOOO much fun!!! Definitely the highlight of our trip! We saw dolphins, our tour guide was hilarious and the ride was exciting. It also includes an alligator show down the road a bit which was short and sweet (in my opinion was perfect) and we got to hold an alligator (no extra fees for anything). Tips are cash only and believe me, you will feel they deserve a tip here - save the atm fees and time, and bring some cash.

When choosing an airboat tour, I wanted a smaller boat where they didn’t pack us all in. Captain Jack’s came highly recommended and was just what I wanted with only 6 of us on the boat along with Kalen, our airboat pilot (or driver). Whatever he’s called, Kalen was an excellent guide! It was on my bucket list to go on one, and I had a great time. Thanks Kalen! I’d recommend booking the Total Everglades Combo as you get two airboat tours, a swamp buggy ride and getting into the animal sanctuary where you can hold an alligator. Richard and Ralph at Wooten’s were great guides. Bring bug spray as the mosquitoes were out of control.

Incredible experience!!! We saw so many alligators, the airboat captains were highly knowledgeable, and the boat ride had exciting surprises! Highly recommend! Wear sunscreen, bring water, mosquitoes were not bad at all. The airboat is loud so they give you a headset. Totally ok to wear shorts and a dryfit shirt … sunglasses are a MUST!
