Tours in the Glades

Expert-guided kayak and boat tours through the Everglades, led by naturalists who actually know what they're talking about.

About

Tours in the Glades runs small-group and private kayak tours through the waterways just outside Everglades National Park. Based in Florida City, they're about as close to the park entrance as you can get without actually being inside it. The guides here, Chris and Captain Piet among them, are working naturalists. They're not reading from a script.

Private tours are their sweet spot. You set the pace, ask the questions, and actually learn something. Past guests have spotted week-old alligator hatchlings, nesting females, herons, and crocodiles, all on the same trip. That's not luck. That's a guide who knows where to look.

Tour lengths vary, and most people say the 40-minute option goes fast. If you can swing it, book the longer tour. Three hours on the water with someone who can identify every plant, bird, and reptile you pass is a completely different experience than a quick spin through the canals.

They're flexible on scheduling, often able to fit people in on short notice, which is handy when you're building a trip around Everglades National Park and plans shift. Check Groupon if you're watching your budget; deals show up there regularly.

This is the kind of tour that turns a day at the Everglades from "we drove through and saw some birds" into something you'll actually talk about later.

This tour was an amazing value and everyone at Tours in the Glades was so professional! They were able to fit me in for a next day private tour and were very flexible. Chris was my tour guide and he was awesome! He’s so nice and is an expert naturalist about the Everglades. I learned so much from him and he had an eye for spotting cool things that I never would have seen on my own. Since I was a kayak beginner, he was very patient and we went at my pace. Overall, wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone!

This is a MUST to do on Everglades. You cannot have a real idea abou that is the place without going through the canals. We saw a lots of wild life and few crocs. Definitely worthy. I highly recommend check Groupon for nice deals or try to make a longer tour. Usually the 40 minutes goes pretty fast. Have a kayak tour that’s amazing

We did the tour with Christian. Me and my wife had a private tour with him. He made a 3h tour with us. Has told us very much about the plants and animals world. It was incredible, we were totally excited and we have seen also aligators. For this price it is the best tour you can book. Highly recommended!

Chris with Tour the Glades was an awesome guide! Above all he made us feel safe and confident, especially because we had a newbie kayaker in our group. We learned so much from Chris about the vegetation, bird life and wild life. Such a fun time!

Captain Piet showed us the greatest places and 1 week old gator babies besides a big 3 meter male, couple of females and as well a very aggressive female defending her nest. Not sure, how easy it was to get this views, but it was really exceptional for us !
