About

River Wilderness Waterfront Villas sits right on the river in Everglades City, the quiet fishing village that serves as the Gulf Coast gateway to Everglades National Park. The villas have full kitchens, private porches overlooking the water, and enough breathing room to actually decompress. Continental breakfast is included, and there's a pool for the afternoons when you just want to float.

The setting does a lot of the work here. Guests report watching wildlife from their porches without going anywhere. The river is right there, and the property has canoes available so you can get out on the water at your own pace. (Everglades City is surrounded by the Ten Thousand Islands, one of the best paddling areas in Florida, so having a canoe on-site is genuinely useful.)

Staff get consistent praise for being accommodating and going the extra mile. One recent guest mentioned arriving early and being checked in without any hassle, with good local tips thrown in. That kind of hospitality matters when you're in a small town without a lot of options nearby.

This is a place for people who want to slow down. Peaceful, comfortable, and close to everything the Everglades City area offers: fishing charters, airboat tours, the park's western entrance, and some of the best stone crab in South Florida.

We at Everline Coatings and Services of Southwest Florida had the opportunity to do some work beautifying the parking lot at River Wilderness. We also stayed in a room they provided for us while we were doing the work. This is a top notch facility with beautiful rooms. They care about the appearance of their place, and making their guests feel welcome. Bruce is incredible to work with. 5 stars!

Beautiful cabins with amazing views! Porches overlooking the water. I was able to watch nature and enjoy the quiet! My cabin had 2 twin beds and a couch plus a small kitchen.

My son and I stayed at the River Wilderness Villas last weekend, July 2025, and it was one of the best weekends we’ve ever had away from home. We arrived early, which was no problem…Tatum was the epitome of customer service. She not only checked us in early, but recommended the pool because there were children my son could play with at that moment, which my son loved. She also fixed an issue I had with Booking.com, and educated us on local wildlife. The villa was everything we needed - comfortable, beautiful, clean, safe, and across the street from a restaurant and fishing store. I watched the dolphins jump from my kitchen window. The screened porch was absolutely fabulous and bigger than expected. I will be back again, and again, and again. Thank you Tatum and thank you River Wilderness Villas! 🥰

The only good thing about this place is the location — it’s really beautifull and peaceful by the water. But everything else was a big let down. The cabin looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades. The furnitures are old and worn out, and the bed was just horrible — lumpy, noisy, and way too soft. I could feel every spring when I tried to sleep. The sofabed wasn’t much better, totally sagging, really painful to sleep. The fridge was rusty inside and outside, and the handle felt gross. For the price we paid, this was honestly shocking. It’s way too expensive for what you get — feels more like a cheap roadside cabin than a “waterfront retreat.” It’s really a shame, because the nature around is amazing, but I wouldn’t stay here again unless they fix things up big time.
